Simagic FX Formula Wheel

$359 In Stock
Simagic FX Formula Wheel

The verdict

Simagic's budget formula wheel at $359, offering the core FX experience without the Pro's premium materials and extra encoders.

Best for

  • Formula racers on a budget wanting Simagic build quality
  • Simagic owners wanting their first formula-shaped wheel

Not for

  • Anyone wanting the full rotary encoder complement, get the FX Pro
  • Console racers, Simagic is PC only

What it is

The Simagic FX is the budget entry to Simagic’s formula range at $359 (down from $499 list). It shares the FX family’s fundamental design and shape with the FX Pro but strips back the premium materials and reduces the encoder complement. This is formula racing at the mid-range price point: open-wheel ergonomics, a compact diameter suited to single-seaters and prototypes, and Simagic’s standard build quality.

Compatible with all Simagic wheelbases natively via QR50. Also works on third-party bases with appropriate adapters.

Who it’s for

Simagic owners who want a formula-shaped wheel without the FX Pro’s $549 price tag. If you race Formula Vee, Skip Barber, or lower-tier open-wheelers in iRacing and do not need the full rotary encoder complement, the FX provides the essential formula experience for $190 less than the Pro.

In use

The formula shape puts your hands in the natural position for open-wheel racing. The compact diameter provides quicker steering response than GT wheels, which suits the fast-ratio steering of formula cars. Simagic’s button quality is consistent across the range, and the shifter paddles deliver a clean, defined action.

The reduced encoder count compared to the FX Pro is the main compromise. For simpler cars (Formula Vee, Skip Barber, Porsche Cup) this is not a limitation. For complex prototypes or high-formula cars with extensive in-car adjustments, you will miss the extra inputs.

What to watch out for

No display. If you want on-wheel telemetry, you need the FX Pro or a separate dashboard unit. The current street price of $359 (vs $499 list) makes the value proposition stronger, but check whether the FX Pro has also been discounted before committing. The gap between the two models matters more than the absolute price.

PC only. No console support.

Verdict

A competent budget formula wheel that delivers the core Simagic FX experience at $359. The reduced encoder count is the primary trade-off. If you race simpler open-wheelers and do not need extensive on-wheel adjustments, the FX saves meaningful money over the Pro without sacrificing the fundamentals.
